Now that I have your attention this article actually has nothing to do with your poor judgment and what you did between the sheets the previous night, what you want to prevent, and all to do with how active you were the day before, than as well as the hangover you may have from partying a little too hard. What exactly am I referring to? Multivitamins.
I know what you’re thinking … “What an introduction to such a boring topic.” Yes, you tell me – I’ll write the topic. There is nothing sexy or funny about talking about multivitamins. But here’s the deal, you need to consider using multivitamins on a daily basis.
When you wake up every morning, think of your body as a vehicle, and that vehicle starts the day empty. If nothing is in the tank, optimizing your mental and physical performance throughout the day will be a challenge. You may feel lethargic, a bit of brain fog … you got the point. Think of multivitamins as a means of recharging your battery and giving your engine some throttle.
Let’s dig a little deeper to help you better understand why you should use multivitamins when you wake up in the morning.
Your body uses up resources when you exercise
After going to the gym and exercising, your body can be depleted of many different nutrients. In addition, one of your main focuses after intense exercise should be on recovery and minimizing sore muscles and DOMS (delayed sore muscles). Vitamins from a high-quality multivitamin supplement can help replenish the loss during your training session and fill in any nutritional gaps that you did not fill in your post-workout nutritional plan.
Let’s look at some essential nutrients found in multivitamins and why they’re important.
Those who exercise regularly need sufficient amounts of vitamin A to support protein synthesis. Without them, you can hinder your recovery and muscle growth potential. Vitamin A can also play a role in strengthening muscles by promoting bone development.
To effectively metabolize protein and amino acids, you need B vitamins. By helping to break down and utilize amino acids, B vitamins play a role in repairing and rebuilding muscle fibers. A B-complex through the use of multivitamins can also help provide your muscle cells with a source of energy that was tapped during exercise.
When you think of vitamin C, you might think that it is widely used to boost the immune system. While that’s true, vitamin C has many other functions, such as: B. strengthening collagen and promoting joint health. Vitamin C also plays a role in hormone production like testosterone – something to look out for carefully if you are looking to add high quality lean muscle mass. Consistent with immunity, vitamin C has powerful antioxidant properties that can help protect muscle cells from free radical damage.
Another important nutrient that must be taken in through high quality multivitamins is CoQ10. This is a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties that can help your body better manage the inflammation that can put on the body from strenuous exercise and stress. CoQ10 can also help reduce muscle fatigue during your workouts.
We can literally spend the next hour going over even more important nutrients you can get from multivitamins that can help you get closer to your health and physique goals. But I think you understand why multivitamins are so important when you’re spending time under the bar and at the gym.
Speaking of “bar”, we switch over.
A meathead and vegan stroll into a bar …
I’m sure there is a joke out there that this can boil down to, but multivitamins play an important role for those who close the bar. While I will not condone such behavior, I am not naive to believe that some of you reading this enjoy going out and having a good time. That said, you will be looking for high quality multivitamins.
A night on the town causes your body to use up nutrients to metabolize the alcohol you consume. When these nutrients are used up, they can become deficient. B vitamins are one such nutrient that you may need, especially if you’re looking to prevent a cracking hangover.
High quality multivitamins also contain nutrients like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium that can help improve fluid balance as you can be easily dehydrated after a night of alcoholic beverages.
Again, I’m not giving you a free pass to go out and pop bottles because you use multivitamins to offset the negatives of drinking, but if you find a few drinks deep, multivitamins can help you replenish your nutrients so you lost are not entirely worthless the next day.
