The strongest men in the world will raise sandbags, dumbbells and money for a good cause at the Arnold Strongman USA competition on 18 January 2020.
Arnold Schwarzenegger announced on Instagram that he will bring his Strongman competition series to Santa Monica Pier for the second consecutive month next month. Upcoming star Martins Licis won the opening event earlier this year.
The winner will receive a place at the Arnold Pro Strongman Classic 2020 at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio next March.
"I'm very excited," says Arnold in the video, which you can see here.

The Arnold Strongman USA competition is back at the Santa Monica Pier, January 18, 2020. You can get your tickets at the link in my biography. The best part of this competition is that part of the proceeds will be used for the Ventura County Fire Widows & Orphans Fund, the Santa Monica Firefighters Relief Fund, and the CalFire Benevolent Foundation. Our California firefighters are the bravest and best in the world and deserve recognition for the hard work they do every day to protect us. That's why we've organized the world's largest fire department competition so that firefighters from around the world can compete with the audience they deserve. Reserve your place under the link in my biography.
Thirteen participants were announced for the event, but a notable gap is the four times strongest man in the world, Brian Shaw. Hafthor "The Mountain" Bjornsson will attend the show as a special guest but will not compete (he qualified for the Arnold Sports Festival 2020 by winning the competition in 2019).
It's guaranteed to be a great show with five announced strengths: Log Clean & Press for reps (380 pounds); a 400-pound farmer's walk; a sandbag over a 15-foot bar; Deadlift for repetitions (775 pounds); and a Strongman sandbag load.
However, not only Licis and other strong men will participate in the show, as Arnold also announced, there will be the strongest fire-fighting competition in the world. Part of the competition will also benefit the Ventura County Fire Widows & Orphans Fund, the Santa Monica Firefighters Relief Fund and the CalFire Benevolent Foundation.
California, the state that Arnold had previously governed, had been hit by forest fires in recent years, and the fire brigade struggled to contain many of them. The Strongman show is not only a great way to entertain the crowds, it also supports our first responders.
