Lots of young men have joined gyms and started lifting weights to get as tall as possible. If you took her deepest thoughts and turned her into a real person, the result would be Craig Golia. At 6’3 “, Golias usually weighs near 350 pounds – with abs! Golias told Dennis James on a special episode of The Menace Podcast that he knows only too well how these beginners felt because he was one himself.
“In junior high and high school, I was the skinny, long-haired metalhead that was in metal bands,” he told James. “I wasn’t into sports. I’ve been in bands. “
After spending much of his younger years in bands opening up to act on a national level, Golias began to train and grow … and grow. A chance encounter with a photographer in the Cleveland area resulted in his being introduced to a man many in the bodybuilding community know, Ed Connors.
“I talked to Ed and Ed kicked me out [to California] 2006, in January, I think I was 21 or 22. I came out and thought, ‘OK, I want to do bodybuilding.’ “
After participating in several amateur shows from 2007 to 2010, Golias focused on size and on being as tall as possible. His photos have gone viral many times since then and his name has been linked to many of the great mass monsters in bodybuilding history such as Rich Piana and Mr. Olympia Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay of last year. That served as motivation for him to really push it forward and see how much potential he had.
“I sat down and said, ‘Damn it, if you really think I’m crazier than all these other guys, really let me try.'”
Golias has plans to eventually lose weight, but not before he tries one last time to gain new levels of mass. He’s hoping to be as tall as 375 pounds with abs.
“I want to document it, show the world that a person can get so tall and slim and then keep the waist small. I’m really known for that, ”he said proudly. “No bowels, no bloated stomach.”
